I think I will replace them, might as well do it right...and if they are so far gone the exhaust is hitting, it probably needs it. It seems like it is a pretty straightforward job as long as the old bolts don't put up too much of a fight. Is there any general preference to which bushing kit to use? Looks like Summit has Energy Suspension, Prothane, and their in house Summit brand.

I bought the Summit brand based on the good reviews but have not installed them yet. Most of the guys on here have the Energy Suspension kit.

I was kind of leaning towards the Summit brand since they had the most reviews...too bad you haven't put yours in yet so you could tell me how nice they are lol. About half my bushing were looking pretty rough, so I am pretty positive that is the culprit. From the firewall back I am counting 5 bushings on each side...does that sound right to anyone else for an 84 monte?

I bought the prothane kit, then bought all new metric hardware from fastenal. Once i cut out my trunk area bolts due to rust, the new ones went in easily and it actually stiffened up the ride pretty good. It's safe to say it made a world of difference from the factory bushings, and gave some clearance underneath as well. As said, the blue bushings in the pic are known as GN bushings...they just sit on top of the spring perch area. The prothane kit included those.

Actually, the instructions on the g force x-member i got says to "raise" the floorpan with a block of wood due to body bushing compression preventing the xmember from clearing the pass side floorpan.

This is what most 30 year old bushings looks like btw. Soak them good with penetrating lube and let it sit...do that a few times to help the bolts break free.

A couple of mine look that bad...I have been spraying them down for a couple days and will do so until the new bushings arrive...hopefully nothing breaks lol. So do all cars have the mounting point for the GN bushings even if they didn't come with them from the factory? Are they worth putting in if that is the case?
