You are lucky it was only $135. Not sure how your state works, but in NC you can actually have your car impounded, face jail time, and have points put on your license. But I also think in NC you can get the fines or points reduced if you show the judge you actually got a valid license. I think NC treats it the same as driving with no license. But I suppose you are at the mercy of the officer. I think you faired well compared to some. It will probably affect your insurance tremendously though, especially since you are only 18.

In Ontario it not a moving violation for an expired licence so there is no points involved but they can force you to park the car and if it is in an area where you can park it and there is no one ther to drive it they can force you to have to towed or they will have it towed. When my daughter in law got her tickets she was not my daughter in law. She had a good excuse cause her licence and sticker expired very close to the day she married my son so she had forgotten all about it. The Judge at court asked me if she married my son so I would handle her tickets....😀

Wish I could hit 'funny' and 'like'!

The cop threatened to impound my car, but the thankfully did not as it was like 20 degrees outside and he felt bad I guess. THe whole reason I got pulled over is non working (slow/bad flasher) turn signals and 1 of 6 brake bulbs burnt out. The middle on the right side. Go figure. Check your bulbs people. I'm not typically one to fight on a subject where I was in the wrong. Plus I despise court settings. I'll just pay it and move on.
