In the process of installing a heater delete panel but run into a snag.
The lower pass corner of the heater box has a gromet with a bundle of wires through it. What can I do to relocate or can I simply remove them?
Thanks
Dave

What kinda car is this? In my bu the only electrical connections i remember in there was to the blower motor. Everything else was a mess of hoses if i remember right and the whole thing slid right out and i put my plate on the firewall

Thanks for the quick reply, its an 87 Monte, I have what looks to be 2 grounds, a heavy purple, a heavy green (these may actually be vacuum?) Then a blue, an orange a yellow and a green, actually maybe this will help.

Not sure man my bu is a 79.
Those bigger purple and tan hoses i know for sure go to the heater controls. The wireing could be for blower motor for the delay and what not.

Maybe you can try pulling fuses to the heater control then put a multimeter on a few of those and see if they pull power with and without the fuse.

Im probly not much help on this maybe someone with that year could chime in.

Also a manual might help. Better to spend $15 on a book than too spend your salary fixing wires lol

Well I appreciate you trying to help. Will keep digging online, I can't be the only guy thats done this on an 87 lol

The purple and grey, you call them green, are vac lines coming from the engine to the contols then back to the heater shutoff valve. The rest of the wires you show are for the Hvac fan controls. The Ecm and harness is a seperate bundle that is below the A/C box. You can remove the wiring shown in the picture by unhooking a single brown wire by the controls, ground wire, and the 4 wire connector by the passenger side valve cover. It would have all come out with the A/c box.

The AC box had been previously "modified" by the PO, so when I removed it there may have been a sawzall involved lol. So I could, in theory, simply cut, or bundle, or unplug that group of wires with no Ill effects?
As for the harness under the heater box, from the ecm, is this the same situation? Can it be unplugged, and harness, as well as ecm be removed? That ones not overly important to remove if it controls other things (charging system, lights, guages etc) but trying to snake a 4" down pipe on that side means moving everything i can away from heat or removing it if possible.
Thanks guys, appreciate the help.
Dave

No need to do any cutting, everything disconnects or unbolts. Same with the ECM if you are not going to use it. With that there is a small clamp that holds the wiring to the firewall then the wiring comes out into the engine bay. I wouldn't throw the parts away though its likely sombody will buy it from you.
