I am planning on installing some new front coil springs on my 81 cutlass...I'm kinda
Cautious because I've heard a lot about coil springs popping out but I don't wanna pay a shop to do it
because it sounds simple...if anybody has any knowledge or have done this before could you tell me what
Is the best approach to tackle the job

Not simple. I've done every job possible on cars and I think front coils are the most dangerous, especially for inexperienced guys. A lot of ways will be posted, and I have my own personal way. I would advise you to research this thoroughly (books and do a search on this site) and remember one thing- use a safety chain to secure the spring to the frame or A-arm just in case it slips and won't hurt you. And as long as you are taking apart a 30 year old car, it probably could use bushings and ball joints too.
