Intake bolt length

I just read the 2711/3711 instructions and they don't mention anything about the mounting bolts. Just the torque sequence. All the bolts get crunched to 25 lb-ft of torque. And they recommend using the stock turkey tray gasket.

But if you used the Performer RPM 7111, those instructions says to use (2) of their 2" long supplied bolts in positions #6 and #7 with washers, which are on the passenger side, 2nd one from front and next to last from front, both on passenger side. Hmm. WTF.

Yes the sizes you listed will definitely work on an A4.

And of course Edelbrock recommends using their intake bolt kit for it.

30 buxx for 10 bolts

Considering there's what, 12 bolts to an Olds intake... E-brock needs to count better.

The 2711 manifold itself appears it's going to take 3 shorter bolts next to the carb, but there's a vertical mount boss next to the driver front carb side bolt that forces a raised intake mounting boss. The rest of the bolts look the same. Of course, an A4 has 3 short bolts too considering I believe there's a raised intake bolt boss next to the rear of the EGR mounting area.

I can't see how 2" length bolts don't work on the dang thing. Unless you need those smallish 12 pt. bolts like ARP for a couple places.

Ah, the E-brock 30 dollar kit (p/n 8514) does have 12 bolts. 9 longer and 3 shorts and they are the small head 12 pt. bolts. No wonder they called them "header" bolts in the instructions.

Is that the problem? You're having clearance issues on some of the positions? Or they're just not long enough?

Did you consider using socket head bolts? I mean, 25 lb-ft ain't crap for torque, so I'd think you could get by with one or two of those from Home Depot or something. Just throwing spaghetti.

The Edelbrock casting is thicker on the hole bosses so with a 2 inch bolt only about 3 threads are exposed.

A regular 6 point bolt will work fine

I was trying to find a full thread hex flange head bolt in the correct length

Most standard thread flange bolt are only partially threaded once over 1.5 inches

Yeah, but if it's only 1.5" or less unthreaded shank, you'll never bottom out from what you say the thickness is of the flange.

That's BS! The bolts should be included with the manifold!
