coming time to replace my 4bl quadra jet which seems to liek running rich..and my stock intake. i talked to a guy at summit and he told me to go with a 650cfm. i like edelbrocks products but im not sure which to pick. the engine is a 350 chevy 4 bolt crate motor, headers exhaust, msd ignition. id like to make power either from idle+ or around 1500+

what combos are u guys running or suggest?
keep in mind that id like to keep the price under 800 bucks

What kind of cam do you have? Stock? I'd recommend stepping up to a Holley. I'm not a big fan of Edelbrock carbs. They are about $100-$150 less than a Holley. I'd go for a 650 or 670 CFM Holley with vacume secondary. The Street Avenger is a good one. They'll run you about $350 depending on mechanical or electronic choke. And as far as an intake, thats where I like Edelbrock. What ever you get you need to make sure it is a dual plane manifold. That'll give you better mileage and low end power. New most aluminum intakes will run you about $100-$150 depending on the brand and the coating. You can get a nice Edelbrock RPM intake new for about $110. You shouldn't have any problem keeping it under your budget of $800.

yeah my cam is stock right now. im doing carb/intake now, cam/heads/valvetrain later

Well thats a good start. I'd stick with a Holley 😀

I like the Edelbrock better than the Holley on a mild street engine because it has a more tuneable part throttle circuit. I had one on my mild 350 and it ran great. I only pulled it off to run a Quadrajet ( took a few months to find one I liked). Most of the Holley's I have had I have wanted to disembowel with a large sledgehammer- and I own 4 of them! That being said, why not try to find a good carb guy locally and have the Quadrajet rebuilt? They are really good carbs when set up properly, and a rebuild will likely cost less than either aftermarket carbs. Plus, the Quadrajet will not incurr other expenses like an air filter adapter, throttle cable bracket, throttle cable and TV cable hook ups, fuel line, fuel filter, etc.

It is hard to beat a 600 Holley and an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake. As for price you can get both of them off Ebay real cheap. If you have basic skills you can get a 600 holley off ebay real cheap then put a good rebuild kit in it and still be money ahead.
