Is It the 1970's All Over Again?

I was thinking about this the other day. I was bored and decided to make a pilgrimage to the new IKEA store before going to the junkyard. What I noticed is that the furniture styles, colors, textures, etc. all looked like something you would see in an episode of Hawaii 5-0 or The Bob Newhart Show. Chartreuse is back in style again, as is dark brown wood and deep pile shag carpeting. Really? Then I got to thinking that we have the economy of the 1970's, cars have gotten bigger and more bloated once again due to safety regulations, and we are seeing high fuel prices. The nation also seems to be in a Carter-esque malaise. So, is it the 70's again, or is it just me? If so, how long will it be until bell bottoms and disco make a return?

Well, I don't miss disco, but the cars were more interesting. I do agree that today is incredibly time intensive. We have all these tools to make life easier, but all they really do is increase the expectation of productivity.

isn't it sad that computers were supposed to give us more time off and the opposite has happened.....computers seem to be compel us to function like a computer....I for one don't have blackberry nor a lap top as I have a healthy addiction to fellow human beings and the real world...

I love gadgets & gizmos, but it seems that alot of people cant function w/o them.People on the highway texting and talking on cell phones, illegally here, almost running into to me,not signalling, etc, rude A-holes answering cells rite in tne middle of our conversation-in theaters-in restaurants. -As for the 70's,at least ALL the cars didnt necessarily resemble each other,a big plus, but I can live w/o disco, platform shoes,& bell bottoms!

That's the truth, is it just me or is the lincoln ls and mitsubishi galant the same car :?

I have a laptop and a desktop, but the desktop should just be called a dusttop as all it does is gather dust. I do not have a smart phone, but I do have GPS and a few iPods. I am planning on buying a netbook soon so that I never need be without a computer. My laptop is a 17 in one, so it is a bit big to lug around everywhere. However, I am rarely without it when I go to friend's houses as it gives me something to do when they are playing video games that I don't want to play. I hate to admit it, but I am a bit addicted to technology and portability. I have even thought about building an iPod charger for my bike... but it wouldn't make any sense.

Naah, the Galant and the Chrysler Sebring are the same car.
