Is this a normal frame or something custom?

Definitely looks like an Art Morrison frame. Very similar to their G-max chassis.

I looked into this before modifying my frame and well, lets just say I modified a stock frame. lol

To have them build a frame to your specs is $10,000 WITHOUT any suspension. If you want the the full Corvette setup (front suspension, power rack and pinion, rear independent suspension) your looking at something closer to $15,000 before its all said and done.

This is a G-body frame after notching and a few other things:

Im looking in to notcing my frame and just making a nice street car that i can still throw slicks on and take to the track. the shop I talked to today said I couldnt do the frame notch without having a cage because of bracing issues.

Nah, there have been plenty of guys that have done frame notches without a cage and the car is just fine.

Structurally all of your suspension points are ahead of where the frame notch is done so that's a non issue. Your just supporting the body in the rear behind that.

That's not to say a cage isn't a good idea.

There's also other ways of notching the frame that would be better if you had the tools and know-how. The best way to do it would be to completely cut and narrow the frame in the rear, suspension points and all and just move the entire frame rail inboard further. But that's going to take a lot of work to make sure you have the suspension pick-up points welded back in the correct location, not mention you'll need to modify the rear end to fit as well.

Ok cool. Eventually im gonna have a 9" rear under it. do you have to take the body off the frame completley to do so?

Nope, you can cut out the wheel wells and notch the frame all from the wheel well. You can even add bars across the frame from underneath. The body off the frame makes it easier to work, though. Try searching through the site. There are several build threads with this done and other threads with pictures.

Here's one
