Sigh...those break easily and are such a PITA. But there's some hope.

You COULD leave it out if you don't want the buzzer to work or care about that. There's that option. Don't lose that spring clip though if you decide not to replace it. Someone may be able to use it if they've lost theirs. Those are discontinued from GM.

If you feel the need to replace the buzzer switch, you'd be looking for GM p/n 7811092 or equivalent. TILT WHEEL. Makes a difference.

Oh, and while you're in there, and I can spend your money, you may want to think about changing out those fragile turn signal cancelling cam springs. There is a RH and a LH. They tend to stress and break over a number of years of use. Not a have to do, but while you're in there...

Should you wan to replace them, you'll need 1 of the GM p/n 1964784 for RH and 1964785 for LH. Or equivalent. Check with your local box store.

Thanks for the part numbers. Havent checked pricing yet, but if its not to much i will probly do that too. The bearings for the steering wheel look like sh*t....there all there but the casing fell apart when i pulled the column.

If you need a new bearing, the top one is the easiest to change. However...it's part number 26001827 or equivalent. It was used in 1975-2015 or so. WIDE range of GM columns. If it's still good but dirty, you can always take it out, clean it out with gumout or similar, and regrease it with bearing grease. I'd try that before I had to replace it.

They are very proud of that bearing. Usually they can be found for 30-50 bucks. List price is like 69 and change or something like that IIRC. Rockauto.com even has them for around $45.

Most of the time, for that kind of money, you can get a "kit" that has two bearings and the tumbler "rack" and spring under GM p/n 7844651. Beware the aftermarket equivalents on this particular part number because they do NOT come with the bearings the way the GM kits do. Which would defeat the purpose.

There is one kit aftermarket that does come with the bearings, however it's for a JEEP. They used Saginaw steering crap for years, so most of the stuff interchanges. I read where the upper bearing is the same but the mid bearing is not quite. If you just need the upper bearing, this may be a cheaper option. Summit sells the kit under CROWN part number 83510055 for 28 and change. Cheaper than just the upper bearing if you need one.

Notice I like spending your money....

If i need it and doesnt break the bank i usually get new parts to throw on if im already into something and the parts are already exposed. Im sure theres like 4 guys that have a general idea of what i put into the car since ive owned it. When i get into something, it always finds a way to becoming a thread or multiple😂😂 everything ive done to this car has been my first time and i appreciate everyone thats helped walk me thru things no matter how difficult i make it

And that THIEF want 500 buxx to change that part?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Ya i guess. It wasnt to bad. Im glad you guys told me to do it myself. But I cant figure out where this piece came from

It needs new bearings. The casing wont stay in it and it creates even more play cuz it falls out😞
