So did it work???

No. The entire new switch and its bracket bolts back into place where the old crap came out. It appears your old one exploded on you when you took it off. So, good thing you got a new one. The plug with the wires connects onto the new one, and make sure you get the rod from the ignition tumbler in the right slot.

Ya it exploded, pieces went everywhere. But the 1 piece doesnt fit right on the new piece. The metal bracket on the new pc isnt shaped the same

I was trying to pull the column out so i can work on it inside. Its got a wobble and still want to do the key tumbler. So i was gonna take my time and figure it out.....but for some reason i cant pull it thru....all bolts are removed. But its not seperating from the steering shaft

Just about to head back into the garage to work on it. Im gonna pull out the whole column and work on it inside the house.....hoepfully i can make it work. Does it have to be in the car to see if everything is lined up correctly to work? The previous owner came over today and said that the steering column shifter has to be in the park position for the car to start. Sometimes that prevented the car from starting. This column has the shifter on it. But the car is floor shift from factory

Yes the steering column must be in the park position to start.

Yes and no,,You can put the key in it when the column is out of the key and see if the switch, rod and key tumbler are functioning,

Before you bolt it all back in plug in the harness and see if it starts
