Its official - first non-sports car Mustang

Meh. If you're dumb enough to buy one, have at it! That being said, what demographic are they even targeting? Most polls put millennials in the "never going to drive/can't afford a car/uber everywhere" category. It surely won't be us "car guys", maybe CUV fanatics?
God is there such a thing as CUV fanatics, I hope not. I assumed they were Soccer Moms, old people or other people who have given up on life. I see two potential versions online of this abomination.

I think the Mustang II was the first non sports car Mustang

I dunno, discs, rack and pinion, available sway bars.....sounds more "sports car" than a 65-66 (excluding GT350s)

Now a 4 cyl base notchback II....that's a parts car if you're building Cobra IIs or King Cobras.

Yeah, I'm somewhat biased

Even that, they did have a 302 v8 available, even if it wasn't a powerhouse.

While they did downsize the body, it was kept basically a 2+2 kinda sports car, and as meant to compete with the nissan/datsun z bodies and the like, the little Japanese sports cars.

If anything I'd bet the controversy and criticism will make this new turd be held to an even higher standard and regularly picked apart however possible. Hopefully it fails spectacularly and goes away as quick as possible.

Do CUV fanatics actually exist? They must be some boring-*ss people.

Honest to God I hope I'm employed somewhere else before these abominations start hitting the lots. We all thought the Edge STs were barf worthy. Just an FYI from someone who wrenches on them on a daily basis, if you are considering a new Ford that isn't a truck you seriously need to shop around more. I have even less nice things to say about GM but staying on point, I'm far from thrilled with the current or near-future Ford lineup.

But in other new car news, the Camry is coming back with AWD for the first time since the All-Trac in 1991! If I can get one of those with the 301 HP 6 cyl and a true automatic (i.e no CVT, I'm not holding my breath for a manual) I may seriously consider one.
