BUILD THREAD Janky- A Mexican Monte Clone

Millerstown still list that '89 Firebird down there.
That’s where the mirror is from, I’d have the driver’s side but they smashed it when it got moved. I’d grab the ones off the Corvette they have but I can’t take parts off of it.

Passenger side
I'm sorry to say that the extra piece I have is for the driver side.
I repaired it with JB Weld about 2 months ago, so I would not have been able to guarantee how long it would work for you, but if you want it, I'll send it in a flat rate box for the price of shipping. (One small screw is missing)

Just going to drop these photos off for right now, more details to come in the next week or so (or so meaning another few months)

As of now, the body is in its second layer of filler primer, and the plan is to get it in base and clear before most of the cold weather shows up.
Bonus photo after my primer gun fell apart in my hands with a full pail.

“I’m sorry officer, my foot slipped!”
“No sir, I was not aware the posted speed limit was 40!”

I can already hear the police scanners buzzing over some dark red Mustang or something. Not to mention how many tails I’m going to pick up 🤣

No real update for the time being, I managed to stuff the dash into the car yesterday to check wiring before I start putting the interior in permanently (pictures to follow).
But I’m at an impasse for car audio currently. I need to replace the dash speakers since they’re probably junk anyway (sound quality not withstanding) but since these cars only came with 4 speakers to begin with I figured I’d up the ante a bit. I’d like to put speakers in the doors with either a concert sound kit from Classic Industries:

Or try to make my own thing with speaker rings. But that’s where the problem comes in.

Since I’m doing a Mexican Monte Carlo clone, I picked up one of the rarest optioned door panels for a GP and I’m skittish about modifying them to any point where the modifications CANT be hidden and the concert sound system requires a cutout through the panel and one in the door metal in order to fit the speaker. That’s a tall order to say the least.

With the speaker ring route, I’ll have trouble securing the speakers (in my head anyway) solidly since I’ve only got the 4 inch or so tall cutout for carpet in the lower panel. I could make some bracing but straight up drilling out extra holes where they’ll be out in the open without the speakers is out of the question, let alone if I break one.

Here’s a picture of the panels for reference (the ones I have use the integrated arm rest/pull strap that I can’t find a picture of):

There is a third option for the quarter panels fitting a 5.25 inch speaker, but those panels basically eliminate the rear arm rests and require you to cut a hole in the quarter panel metal which I’m wholly against doing.

Opinions?
