Stopped over to the machine shop this afternoon. Mike was assembling the heads. They should be on the engine tomorrow. It'll be ready to paint tomorrow but based on the weather I don't think I'll be able to paint it until probably Friday.

The heads are gorgeous.

You can see the plugs that are pressed in to block those middle coolant passages, and you can see how Mike polished the combustion chambers to prevent any hot spots.

Here you can see the Comp beehive springs, the spring locators, and the polymer valve seals. You can see some of the milling that was done on the rocker shaft pedestals to allow the roller rockers to clear. You can also see just a small amount of the clean up in the ports.

And here you can see all the angles and the lapping ring on this intake valve as well as the bowl blending that was done. The valve is also backcut significantly but this picture doesn't show it well.

What do Buick 350 heads flow untouched?

intake
.050 - 27
.100 - 55
.200 - 112
.300 - 165
.400 - 199
.500 - 196
.600 - 199
exhaust
.050 - 22
.100 - 44
.200 - 87
.300 - 119
.400 - 137
.500 - 146
.600 - 149

Those are basically the stock numbers. Late 70s heads are mildly worse, but they do have more meat for porting and a .05 bigger exhaust valve. Stock valves are 1.88/1.50/.55.

The real power gains in a sbb are porting the sh*t out of the heads, and using a TA SP3 high rise single plane intake, big headers, etc. Thats about 2k worth of work tho. On the bright side, the single plane has bosses for injectors.

They are inline with any other 350 head from that era.

And, word has it, the TA aluminum heads as cast are roughly 1.5x times better flow wise than moderately ported irons. So... something to look forward to joe, with your other engine...
