After all this you think I'm gonna build that other engine?! You better stop smoking them funny cigarettes, boy...
Sure. Why not. 370 stroker, offset ground crank, ported heads, have 420hp with 8.5:1 compression. 6psi of boost from a centrifugal supercharger, 620hp. 😀

You may rate my post optimistic in the way of joe doing it, but it has been done. With those numbers.

Paint day!

I went over to the machine shop today and got the engine masked and painted.

When I got there Mike had the heads on, pushrods installed and the rockers on. He was getting them adjusted. He had to mill a little off some of the retaining caps to make them fit right.

I used non-chlorinated brake cleaner and a microfiber to clean the oil off the outside then blew it off with shop air and masked it up. I put some old spark plugs in it and old valve covers over the heads. I put one light layer of primer on it, then worked my way around with the red until I used up two cans. Two cans was plenty more than enough. I probably could've done it with one if I had to. Then I went over with a medium coat of clear, used about 1/2 a can. The paint was dry to the touch when I left. Still I left the masking on, Mike and Bob can pull it off. I think it came out well. There are some fuzzies in the paint from the microfiber rag, but the casting is so rough you hardly notice them anyways. I'll probably be bringing it home early next week.

Awesome. I expect burnouts by no later than next Saturday. 😀
It will be really hard to resist. The first 500 miles on both of my engines before I really flogged em felt like months. But your paint is so nice, I can understand why you wouldnt want to.

Us BOP guys really appreciate the attention to detail. That engine should be good to go in Bob's hands...

Bob and Mike both have been fantastic. I'll have Bob on hand when it fires up for the first time to ensure everything goes smoothly during break in. I don't think I'm gonna be building another engine for a while now, but from here on out, Bob is my go-to guy.

Lmao 😆 Money is gonna be kinda tight after paying for this thing so progress may slow for a little while, hopefully not too much. I have to finish cleaning up the engine bay, put an exhaust on it, buy a crossmember, rebuild my transmission, get a driveshaft, I want to touch up some paint on the underside of the floor and Gravitex it, need a radiator and fan shroud, and so on and so on. The list is still long, but the engine is just about checked off and that was by far the biggest item left.

That is the problem, everything else needs upgraded and all your money has already been spent.
