I appreciate that, although it's in a lot more than 2 pieces :ROFLMAO: I'm jealous that you've actually driven yours!

I got back to the body supply shop this morning. Got an 80 cu ft bottle, weld thru primer, small spool of .023 mig wire, and contact tips. Enough to get me going. Its really hot and humid out so I don't know what I'll get done today but I'm gonna try to play with the settings and set up the machine to where I like it.

I guess I gotta take those HF jack stands back and find a suitable replacement.
I wish I woulda kept my hobart. What wire are using? I've tried Vulcan(HF), Radnor, and another cheap wire i cant remember. Theyre all s#/+. I wont use anything but lincoln er70s. It takes 1/3 the time to grind smooth when compared to cheap wires. Im sure Hobart or miller wire is just as good but ive never used it. Lookin forward to seeing how you tackle the repairs.

I read a lot of reviews and everything I saw said this Hobart 140 was the best small MIG. I'm using the stuff that my auto body supply shop sells, its got their own label on it. No idea who makes it or if it's any good. That's why I only got a 2 lb spool vs an 11 lb spool. If I don't like it I'll give your Lincoln wire a shot. This is the first time I've used .023 wire, I usually use .030. I'll see if it's any easier for me.

So I did do a little work with my firewall. I cut some more out of the firewall itself and I trimmed my replacement panel to fit a little better. I think I've got it pretty much where I want it. The black marker on the inside is the outline of the area I cut. I need to grind the metal clean then it should be ready to clamp and weld.

Last update of the day... I think. Worked cleaning up the weld area on the car side. One thing I forgot to buy was the Rust Mort so I'll be going back for that. I want to brush the pits with it before I do anything else. It started pouring so I think I'm done for the day. I'm leaving the tools out so I trip over them until I finish this.

Got back over to the auto body supply shop this morning and bought a new bottle of Rust Mort, a can of U-Pol #5 primer for any small areas, some more Roloc discs, and some replacement spot weld cutters. I was hoping to Rust Mort some of the firewall today but I ran out of time. Probably tomorrow.

Also called a local sheet metal place that has floor pans in stock. They don't have a full pan but they've got both sides in full length so I think I'm gonna go with those.

Saw this going down the street on my way to the auto body supply shop. Red tailed hawk, this one is one of three babies this year, currently about 3 months old. He'll get quite a bit bigger before he's full grown. I'm not sure if that's a rat or a chipmunk but it looks like a rat to me.

I've seen a redtail around here snatch a rattle snake and drop it on the highway, pick it back up and repeat. There's 3 that hunt my field. I love those bloodthirsty bastards.

They mate for life, we have a couple that have been returning to the same nest every year for probably about 15 years, maybe a little more. I follow them as close as I can. They sure are cool to watch. They mostly seem to eat rabbits and snakes. This one is still a little small to pick up a rabbit but won't be long.

Got out and bought floor pans today. Found them locally, place called Lutty's Chevy Warehouse. Very nice people, very reasonably priced. Had them in stock too which is always awesome. I'm not sure how much of these panels I'm gonna wind up using, but I'm thinking the majority of them. My floors aren't rotted through everywhere, but they are thin in spots and there is that nasty scaly rust on them and I think it would be easier just to replace the metal than to try to clean and treat it.
