Are concrete blocks still the best thing to set the car up on? I'm thinking this setup but taller.

Heres what I did today. Made a mount on my bracing yesterday for a bolt so that I can bolt a piece of angle iron across the door frame. I can use the upper fender bolt and this piece which should triangulate the door openings and prevent any parallelogram action from happening. Next step is bolt some angle iron across the door openings and then start unbolting the body.

I used blocks under my elco body. I had to go high because the space I was working made me take the frame out in a 45 degree angle.

I stacked mine like this...

Takes more blocks and more space, but I liked how stable it was to work around. Single blocks just felt wobbly to me.

With the amount of floorpan work your doing, I think you'll appreciate the extra stability.

That would definitely be more stable than single blocks. I may use single stacks judt to get the body high enough to get the frame out of the way, then before I go any higher I'll build up double stacks like you've shown.

Looking good. Glad to see you back on it. When you stack the blocks Id make the holes face the sky like a house has them. Thats where cinder blocks get their strength. I used a piece of plywood on top of my blocks to disperse the load. The weight of the car probably wont crush sideways blocks but I didnt wanna chance it. Keep up the awesome work.

Thanks man, appreciate it!

Heres where I got today. Made my two angle iron braces.

Bought concrete blocks and some lumber. 4x4s were $20 a piece. 2×4s are cheap. So I bought 2x4s and tripled them up. Should be just as strong.

Pulled the rear bumper, bumper fillers and taillights and took all the body bolts out, then lowered the car as far as it would go on the jack stands. Then while I Mongo'd the body up, my dad slid the 2x4s in between the body and frame.

Put the wheels on and got the rear lifted up.

Lifted it up one more block and got it high enough to roll the frame out.

Frame is gonna be sitting here for now unless I find a better spot for it.

Body up, frame out. Today's goal accomplished. It might need to go up a little higher but that's for another day. Mongo sore. It's currently a little wobbly because the floor is angled toward the drain, but I'll shim the blocks so it's solid before I start working on it.
