When looking for a 350 core my favorite place is the 78-80 riviera. Many were granny driven, and, due to being a longitudinal fwd weren't modded, ragged out, or driven hard.little rundown on the 350s
Built from 68-80
ALL cylinder heads are 55-58cc (production tolerance)
All have 1.88/1.5 valves. 75-80 use 1.55
pre 75 have weaker but lighter stud/nut rods as opposed to the later stronger heavier capscrew rods
68 and 69 oil through the rockers. Stay away from them.
All external balance
All 3.8x3.85 stroke
3.0v6 pistons fit for 9.5ish:1 compression
70-74 use aluminum rockers
75-80 use stamped steel.
A lot of info to absorb but I’ll take this info in , take for the help going to to this with little to no knowledge of older model motorsWhen looking for a 350 core my favorite place is the 78-80 riviera. Often you can find a riv of that generation with rotted sub frame/unibody that's sitting forgotten for $500 or less. Added bonus, digital dash makes a good core for caspers/turbo buick guys, and some came with the turbo style 3 spoke leather wrapped wheels.
However, the digital climate control heads share a similar face yet operate differently than the regal ones. Just FYI.
