L31 swap in progress

What is your thoughts on the 705 (LT1) camshaft or the 94666492 marine camshaft?

He already has the marine cam, that's the 395 cam. I did my 395 cam with 1.6s though. Since I did both at once, I can't say which one is worth more than the other, but the 2 combined were a nice bump for sure.

I got that. Yav8 was said to be very knowledgeable on the L31 and was asking input on these 2 cams. One better for our cars?

I recently came across an L31 stroked short-block w/some hyper flat-tops & was thinking about doing some horse-trading for it after reading about @John85SS swap.

It was put together by a GM tech as a budget HT383 copy (traditional 4.030/3.75 & the 395 cam vs the 4.005/3.80 set-up). I thought about swapping in the GM 'Hot' cam the LT4's came w/along w/the 190 AFR heads I have. Seems that would be a fairly strong yet mild DD capable power-plant. The additional cubes would appreciate a little more lift & duration while keeping w/the L31 Vortec crispness.

That is a pretty popular setup (lt4 hotcam) and is what I would like to do with my l31.

In a car I'd do the LT1 cam myself. They make excellent torque and don't fall off the face of the earth after peak hp like the 395.

What are the specks on the 705 (LT1) cam or the 492. I have not used any of these cams myself. But I sure would like to hear about them. Is the 705 cam the stock LT1 cam?

Never did anything with the 705 cam. Try it and tell us how it worked out. Mite be a few of those cam laying around for free or very cheap. Could work with a set of stock vortec heads. I do know how the 395 cams works in the L31 motors. Even the stock L31 cam from the factory works very well. It move a 5-6000lb truck around very good so why not a 3500lb Gbody. It comes with the motor and its FREE. Through on a set of 1.6 rockers if you like and give it a little more lift and see how you like it.

Shot with primer. 2 days of sanding…. Shoved outside to see if I missed anything.
