Looking for a 3" exhaust kit for my 1980 Malibu. I would prefer side exit behind the rear tires like stock, just on both sides. Pypes has it but only in 2 1/2". I called and they don't have 3"

Actually, they do... sorta. When I built my '80 Grand Prix, I wanted the same thing as you. I found out that Pypes makes a 3" x-pipe header-back system, but only in the Monte Carlo SS 'exit straight out the rear' style... so I bought that kit anyway (p/n SGG13R) and had my exhaust guy cut and rotate the tail pipes to turn it into a side dump system instead. It was a very simple operation.

I like the way it looks and I like the way it sounds. At under $500 shipped from Summit, I thought it was a decent setup.

Do you have any pics of what this looked like when installed?

Thanks, that looks like the best solution yet. Do you have any side pics of the rear?

Summit racing flowmaster 15819 tailpipe kit will work with cutting and welding and a little creative thinking. I’m using Magnaflow offset/center 3” x 18” long SS mufflers. It’s not perfect but will work till I find someone that can make the proper bends or a direct fit for the G Body’s.

If that's what you believe that's fine - I changed from Shoenfeld 1.75 TO Shoenfeld 1.75 stepped to 1.875 headers and lost .05 ET. That's computer corrected to the weather and stepped headers were coated. Now that's nothing to feel but never the less a loss.

Are we talking about, headers down tube size or exhaust pipe size? I’m confused!
