was wondering if anyone can informe which cars (other then Malibu ) came with a 2.73 ratio posi so I can looking in my local junkyard. They have told me that the Chevy s10 may work, but there hard to find so far.

Also how can I identify if it really has a 2.73.. Your input would be apreciated. Thanks

do a search for the RPO code GU2-2.73......if you find that code on a car in the wreckers your'll need to remove the cover to make sure the gears have not been changed

Ok, but can you point out what cars should I be looking for ?

Auto 1998 4th Gen Z28's will have posi and either 3.23 (GU5) or 2.73 (GU2)

Auto Z28's show up at Pick-n-pull junkyards all the time with the motor/trans missing.

Z28 Camaro only? Or any Camaro non z28?

All Z28's are V8's. All V8's would have limited slip. 2.73 is the base ratio for most Z28 autos. The extra cost option was usually 3.23's for the autos. There are probably year by year variations to this, but its a general rule for 4th gens.

Around here, people buy salvage/beat up '98-up 4th gens, rob the LS1 motor/trans/wiring harness/fans and send the rest to the junkyard. Every one I have seen still had the rear axle with disc brakes on it.

I doubt all of the the auto V6's (non Z28's) will be limited slip.

My '79 Grand Prix 4 speed car was a 2.73 limited slip car, but that would be over 100X harder to find in a junkyard than a 4th gen Z28.

G80 was an option at GM into the very late 1980's so early cars likely wouldn't have one unless special ordered. V6 cars generally are not special orders. Many turbo Buick 8.5's are non-G80.
