Everything that comes with the EFI....easier/better cold starts, driveability, better fuel trim throughout the rpm range, tuneability...you know, everything that makes a modern EFI engine better across the board for everything other than all out WOT performance.
I guess everybody on here should convert to efi. No matter what engine, what the cost.

Not what I said. Obviously you missed that he was REMOVING EFI to go to carb, maybe we should convert every car on the road to carb, regardless of the cost?

I don't see the point of the cost/additional work (oil pan, mounts, ignition controller, etc) to convert to the LS platform to run a carburetor on it. Maybe I'm missing something?

Sorry, I'm not an LS cheerleader when it isn't THE answer for everyone. For some , it makes perfect sense. Some not so much. Flatheads are great, too (in the right car) but don't think I'll be swapping one into a G body.

I built an LS for the heads and strong internals that can be found anywhere. No matter what I went with; Ls, sbc, bbc, bbo, sbo...,I would have went carb. You don't have to be a cheerleader for anything, dont have to be a hater either.

I didn't have fuel injection on the car or engine, before you judge.

Neither a hater, nor judging your application

You like carbs, works for you, so be it, but no reason to make shitty remarks about changing everybody's stuff to EFI. I have run carbs for 40 years, am currently involved in a swap everyone hates and says is a waste of time, but makes sense for what I want and need from MY car.

In the words of Rodney King, can't we all just get along?

Its all good. Sorry for getting shitty. Sometimes it seems guys troll on the people doing Ls swaps on here. I try to give sound advice and not deter people. Everybody has reasons for doing what they do to their cars.

Sorry lads...I didn't want to start a feud here.
If I were to do an LS swap on THIS car it would have a carb on it. I want to keep the original 3 speed because its a blast to drive. As for trashing all the benefits...most of us that know how to tune a carb (Ribbedroof incl.) can get 99% of the same benefits as FI.
Different car, different day, I'd do something else.
I started this topic just to get a few ideas and to brainstorm a little. I appreciate ALL the opinions.
I am leaning towards a Gen1-2 option now for this car

Thinking I'll save the LS swap for the Dragster! 454LSX, 10-71 Blower, Mechanical Injection on Alcohol. That'll make'm look!!!

This I took as tongue in cheek. EFI is good, but not the answer to every car, especially on a budget. I'm no builder, only working on my first real build currently, but one of the few things I know is that to put a modern engine in an older car, you need the computer out of the older car and wiring harnes (most of which you will cut out), or an aftermarket one to perform the basic functions the motor requires and forget about everything else that would have been controlled by the computer (ABS, speed sensors, traction control, all the stuff that takes the fun out of driving). And after looking at the price of EZ-EFI on Jeggs... I'll stick to my carb for my Cutlass. At least until I win the lottery.

Anyways, Clarmo, you got a nice looking car. And an LS swap would be cool, but for an easy cheap build, glad to see you're going with an easy to build carb motor and hanging onto that LS. Can't wait to see the dragster you build!

That was me being a smart *ss. Efi is expensive unless you are starting with a car that had it or you got everything you need from the donor. Aftermarket efi is pretty pricey also, but it is getting more affordable. And everything from the tank to the pump to the fuel lines has to be taken into account. A carb really fits my build well though, on top off it being more affordable.

Glad to know there are fellow smart asses here. Even better that I can identify it when I see it. I can never tell if my boss at work is being a smart *ss, or just an *ss.
