With you doing most of the labor, you should be able to stay in your $5k budget, I would think. I don't see that happening with someone else doing the work.

your car look very nice! I am looking for a swap in mY Cutlass Suprem Classi Brougham 1988. I found a 5.3 vortec aluminium 2012 with all the wiring harness and the computer and the throtle body and pedal. I will let it with all injection system, change the cam and put short headers. I found a 6L80 transmission and I wonder if I will need to cut the trans tunnel or lower the set up in the frame? I thiink to keep my olds cluster and wonder how the sppeedo will work and the shifter too... any suggestions or idea?
