Hey guys. 96 LT1 in my Malibu. I have the AC delete bracket which is just a standoff with a pulley. The pulley was close to the frame so i did some homework and found a smaller Dayco and a belt. Much better. But it started to squeal. I pulled it, popped the dust shields and packed the bearing. The grease liquified pretty quickly, made a mess and started squealing again. I bought a new pulley. Squeals right out of the box. Looking for suggestions here !!

Check to make sure the bolts that hold the bracket in place did not back out. The squeal could be the new belt being a little too loose also. Last, buy a brand new pulley, pull it apart immediately and pack it with the thickest heaviest grease you can get and see if you get the same results.
I bought mine used and replaced the pulley on it with a stock size but I also heated up the frame horn and hammered it in for clearance there when I initially installed the motor and the ac pump was in place. I don't get a ton but it was enough to squeeze a belt through.

Edit : is this a real Delco part or one of the dorman repros?

Thanks for the response. Bolts are tight.

Do you have a suggestion on grease? Was suprised to see how luquidy this stuff became. Regular red grease gun grease.

Belt is tight, tensioner is almost maxed out. I have a bigger belt as well, same results.

Dayco* not Delco.

Last thought, wondering if i can get a better quality bearing to press in ??

Maybe high temp wheel bearing grease?

Need pictures, both large and small pulleys front and back and the stand off/bracket.

Part numbers might help too.

Not sure that the pulley is your problem but I stopped using Dayco stuff several years ago. Quality just isn't there. I switched to Gates and haven't looked back.

Current pulley (small one) is p/n Dayco 89130

First pulley (large one) came with the bracket. Almost touches frame.

Standoff bracket is p/n Dorman 34209
(I believe this is the one I used)
