The housing is pretty thick aluminum so I doubt it can be squashed by a standard hose clamp. However, as a matter of fact the screen did have a slight bit of damage to it as I remember. Almost like it was pushed out a bit from severe backfiring. So, I had not considered it would ever cave in. But now I know and will warn other too. If you see any damage on the MAF screen, either replace the screened section or the entire MAF. We just unbolted the screened section from a MAF acquired at the junkyard and put it on our sensor.
