Doesn't a higher stall help cushion the blow too?

I'm not sure about that, especially with sticky tires. Higher stall converter would increase the torque on launch and put more stress on the driveline. Higher stall converters also develop more heat from friction. So a good trans cooler is highly recommended with hi stall speeds.

Made some good progress today 🙂

I was thinking more along the lines of shifting, hadn't considered the added input torque applied to everything else.

I see you have a set of corvette saw blades on your wall, I had a set on my old blazer and was thinking about trying to put a set on my cutlass. Not sure how the would look though. This is them on a blazer

The corvette that owns those sawblades is just out of the picture frame in the foreground. It's got Cray wheels on it now.

This swap to the 79 Malibu wagon will include AC delete. We need to get rid of the AC housing in the firewall and replace it with a heat only housing setup. I see there are aftermarket parts available for doing this. For alternative sake (and we always consider alternatives) are there any other components from other cars that may be available in junkyards that can help us achieve this task?

The heater only box itself & wire harness is the same for all A/G's, just need Chevy/GMC behind dash ducts, control panel & outboard vent block off plates. For that aftermarket fiberglass conversion cover you'll have to cut up your heat-A/C box on the fan/core/evaporator side, drill air intake holes into it & believe modify/make the screen cover to retain the cowl seal & passenger side washer squirters.
