Your old CCC may have been out of wack and needed repair or adjustment. Most of the time it is a engine problem that gets the CCC blamed. The CCC can't work right on a engine that isn't running right like vacuum leaks. Most people let their cars run ragged and only gear heads take any decent care of them. I hate to say it but these days you would get rear ended in the slow lane for doing 60. But air drag is much worse at speeds over 60 with every car, it's why the limit used to be 55, to save gas.
no 305 ccc engine will come close to my 355 for fuel economy or power whether it's standard or automatic. Alot has to do with the vortec heads on my engine, the heads on the 305 are junk
Use 305 (059) vortec heads with the GM Qjet vortec intake with EGR provision. Can also use the same intake on a crate L31 (vortec) 350, just have to use a in-tank fuel pump, one can have both vortec and CCC easily. Over on Montecarloss.com they consider vortecs to be very weak castings that are prone to cracking. Anytime they overheat they will crack.
