Manual Conversion

I agree with TurboLQ4. A stock F body T56 input shaft is only rated for 450 lb ft torque. A Viper spec input shaft is rated for 550 lb ft if you’re so inclined to go that way.

The T56 Magnum (aftermarket TR6060) is rated for 700 ft. lbs. if I'm not mistaken.

I went from a 350 THM to a Muncie 4 speed. I am putting final touches on converting to a ford 9" rear end with 370 gear. I love driving the car but it is not a daily driver, just a fun run. Relatively easy swap and fun to go thru the gears

I love my T5. You can do it with all the factory clutch stuff. A world class rrans is supposed to be good to 350 but there are ways dto get them where you want. Ford built an SVO version to put on some supercharged cars. So it's doable on a reasonable budget. But you will be at it's limit and as was pointed out, traction isn't going to be your friend I'm afraid.

I was lucky when I found a viper transmission built up to magnum spec from an aftermarket company. It was already set up for use with an old style aluminum chevy bellhousing. Also it was local and the same price as a stock lt1 junkyard t56. I had to make a custom bracket to use a Toyota slave cylinder on the mechanical arm. I have most the of the details in my build thread.

The SSM pedal kit should work with a TR6060 right? I see it gives an option for which master cylinder you want to use. which brack would be the best to use?

I used the F-Body kit on mine with a throw out bearing slave, but either would work. I think the other kit would give you more stroke for an oddball slave combination.

I swapped out my auto in my 79 Cutlass for a M22 Rock Crusher. I have a 455 rated at 432 hp and 503 ftlbs. I went with Midwest Muncie and had it built to handle 800 hp. I got the whole kit pedals and all for the swap. I could of saved a little money going with a Muncie rated for 600 hp. Just be sure to measure and cut with care and it will look fine.

Is there a floor console that I can purchase for a manual transmission? I see something on Dixie Restoration but not sure if it will work. It says its for use with the B&M Sport shifter.
