Maybe found an engine...

Yeah my mechanic is pretty good. He told me straight up that his goal with me isn't to make some quick money. He has lot's of high dollar customers that pay all his bills lol. He likes my car and he likes me quite a bit. And he knows I have kids. He even said that if he ever finds out I'm blowing to much money on my car and that it causes problems for me at home he won't work on it. Not to many business owners will turn away money for the sake of their customers home life lol.

OK so that's cool I can get the column shifter to work. And all I'm concerned with is being able to get in into P R N OD and D. I'm the type that just leaves the car on drive. Not a big fan of manually shifting a column shifter. And I'm also not to worried if the indicator is off a bit. I never look at it anyway lol.

And yes it's gonna be nice not having to worry about the transmission blowing up on me. I'm hoping the 7.5 will last me now lol. But since it's all rebuilt (drum to drum and everything in between), has a support cover, and the fact that I'm running stock size tires it should be OK.

Another thing we were worried about was the hood clearance. Because it has a high rise single plane intake on it. But luckily it all cleared. It's gotta be close, but it doesn't touch.

One thing that med me feel good was this. He has a cutomer that has a blown 250 in a 1980 Z28. My mechanic didn't build it, but they brought it to him to tune. They got talking about his heads (performer RPM) and he said that his heads were no good for his engine. That RPM heads are not designed for blowers and are nothing more than a nice street head. Then he points over to my car and tells him that the L82 heads in there will outflow a stock set of RPMs any day (they have had lot's of work done and been on a flow bench). So yeah, that made me feel good, I've never had good heads before.

Well I gotta go talk to him today about doing the 700r4 swap. I'll let him know about what you guys said about the transmission mount and shifter. He's pretty new to g-bodies I think. But he does have a customer with an ElCamino with a big block, 700r4, 12 bolt, and pypes exhaust. So he can ask him too.

I will keep you all updated.

Me and my dad bought a truck with a TH350 to 700r4 swap just completed. It was converted to a B&M floor shifter. Personally, I hate the floor shifter, it's a peice of crap. This is the second B&M floor shifter I've had, and I hated them both. I would recommend not getting a B&M. They feel extremely loose, liek they could fall apart at any moment. Also the way B&Ms pick up reverse and neutral gears are these annoying little contacts on the shifter that break really easy. Still haven't hooked up my reverse and neutral lights, ugh. I'll get to it this summer. Either way - I dont recommend B&M products, especially not their floor shifters. personally I'd rather pay more money for something I'm using all the time.

Good stuff: Truck has a 3:09 rear, and the 1st gear accel on the 700r4 is awesome, breaks the tires loose no problem. dont forget to readjust the TV cable. Since you have the Trans out anyways, are you going to change the torque convertor?

Well the transmission got dropped off tonight. It's out of a Firebird that was written off. So tomorrow we're gonna clean it and drop the pan. The cut open the filter to see whats in there. If all looks good we're just gonna throw it in as is (with the new stall and maybe a shift kit). he figures It should be on the road early next week (got my fingers crossed lol).

Nice man, hope ya got it all finished up!

Still haven't picked it up. We have pretty much been having blizzard conditions here for over a month (well not everyday, but still pretty bad).

OK new update. Getting the 700r4 rebuilt, with all the goodies. So now I won't have to worry about that blowing up. So now the question is... How long is my 7.5 gonna last? lol

just fine. Unless you drag race your car, it's okay to have some fun with it but have to much and boom, it's kinda hard to determine when it will go cause you could do a burnout one day and the next boom. Mine holds up fine behind my 355 and I expect it to when I put in my 400, but I figure if I had a set of slicks it'd be the last time I used the 7.5.

If I were you I'd start looking for the rear end you'll be replacing the 7.5 with so you won't be pressed to find one if the 7.5 blows
