How much snow did you guys get? We got maybe 10 cm but -25 here right now 🙁 . You should get a 2.5" system for the power your car has.

We got about this much:

Yeah, 2 1/2 is what I was thinking. But I don't really want stainless (to expensive) and I think I want H pipe instead on a X. Been listening to different systems on Youtube. And I'm liking the X pipe set up less and less all the time. They kind of remind me of high end imports (not the rice crap lol), it's a cool sound, but just not what I want for this car.

Ford spend alot of money on developing the sound of their mustangs and they went with the H pipe which give the exhaust a deeper sounding exhaust. Phoenyx is right, the X pipes gives a higher pitch exhaust sound. I was also surprised to find out that the H or X does not increase the hp at all, it's all about the sound of the exhaust you want.

Yeah I agree, I am going for the sound I want. If I can find a pre bent set without H or X, just 'plain old' duels that's what I'll get. But all I can seem to find is the 'pypes' type of set up. Gonna do so more searching lol.

The H & later X pipe was developed in the quest to free up some torque and horsepower. Sound was not the original & primary objective. Generally you do find torque or horsepower on a dyno and or on the track with the better breathing that comes from a proper H or X pipe system. It does also smooth & tone the sound especially at least in the upper rpm range. If a person has a Flowmaster system that has problems with drone or cruise resonance its also often very successful in eliminating it.

My wagon was scraping my dual muffler set up on speed bumps before I dropped it, have not finished the drop yet still have to do the front, but I was thinking of running a magnaflow dual in dual out muffler with the internal x pipe tucked up behind the rear end like my 79 cutlass's single in dual out design to get a little more clearance from the ground. Here's the link, http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/shopexd.asp?zone=main&id=8954 I was worried that it could only go on one way (one side inlet only and one side outlet only) but it is said to be reversible, so you can mount it the other way (running it length wise between the rear wheels opposed to length wise front to back like I've seen most people do on the net on trucks and newer cars) and use the x pipe that way, maybe can even take the place of a traditional x pipe location?. Figure I'd throw it out there, kind of killing two birds with one stone and could help you with your dilemma. Hopefully it will solve mine when I can afford to get it done. And according to net research it does not use fiberglass as packing, it uses a stainless steel equivalent supposed to make the sound quality last longer as it does not breakdown like the glass packing.

Please humor my stupid question but is that real deer in your yard? living in hawaii the only deer we see are during the holidays and are fake  Right now I am taking a break from watching college football with my fan on full blast and it's 75-80 degrees. Once in a while I wish that we had colder weather like you guys then I keep coming back to "its always a good temperature to work on my car" 8) and no winter storage

Not my yard, but yes that's a real deer. We have them allover the place here. There's lot's of 'deer crossing' areas where the deer are commonly seen. They are always in peoples yards looking for food (from plants and trees). One neighborhood it's almost impossible to drive through and not see any.

19cutlass79 I have actually used that muffler (or at least one similar) in the past. When I had my V8 Monza, the last exhaust system I had put on had one of those. I got tired of the old system which had 10" glasspacks and exited in front of the rear tire. So I had them run both pipes down the passenger side and installed that muffler where the stock one was. It was a pretty good sounding set up.

If it wasn't for the fact that my car is a 4-door and I gotta haul kids around in it, I would just get duels dumped before the rear end. That would make this so much easier lol.

Yeah I hear that, in hawaii you can't get a safety check (mandatory) if you don't have your exhaust exit behind the rear wheels. Something about exhaust fumes getting into the car. If I get the the muffler I'm going to run it like traditional duals one on each side of the car all the way back over the rearend then into the muffler tucked between the rearend and the tank and spare tire well like my 79 cutlass. I want to do it sooner rather than later previous owner slapped on dual flowmaster 40's with trumpet tips that make it even more obnoxious, thinking of cutting those tips off at least hopefully that gets it a little bit quieter. Good luck with your setup.

there is no hp gain by either an H or an X. The reason the sound changes is when the the air pressures meet in the H pipe they cancel each other out...with the X pipe they hit at an angle giving you another sound....either system does not scavenge the exhaust any better than a duel exhaust. It makes no sense to think there would be an hp gain since all that is changed is the two exhaust pressures are running into each other.....we put an H pipe into our circle track car before we did some research thinking there was a gain..we run a 3" pipe and we run transponders on the cars even the slightest gain in time is recorded and there was none at all....the research we found told us about the only difference is the sound which was noticeable and we are taking the H out for next season since it makes the system harder to design and install
