bought a monte carlo for the roof to put on my cutlass. got it home last night and did the rear end swap which was most important. secondly, i started tearing the monte down this morning, got all my trim removed for the interior, took the seats out, removed the vinyl, quarters and started grounding and assessing what needs to be replaced before i install it..... lot of progress today

Are you swapping roofs just to have a T bar? If so I think that you should look for a better donor for the roof. The roof on the Monte is rotten pretty bad especially around the openings. Will be hard to keep the rust from coming back after the car is painted. Not saying that it will happen over night but it will rust back out again, unless you are going to drill out all the spot welds, remove the skin, and sandblast the entire roof skin and all the peices that you are going to put on your car.
I am not trying to ruin your project, I am just trying to save you a headache later on down the road.

thanks for the input. i figured i probably am going to take the skin off and clean everything up. only reason im tackling this is because im pretty handy with a welder and love doing patch work... if this rusts out later, than so be it since im more than likely going to sell the car once its done...

made a little more progress... this time on the cutlass. took the sail panels out, drilled 2.75" holes and installed the lights which fit perfectly...surprisingly enough they both work, and are pretty darn bright... oughta be even better with the LED replacements coming in.

some people may call you ambitious...i call you bat-*ss crazy :blam: swapping a monte roof to a cutlass and not only that but a piece of sh*t one like that? :wtf: push the monte off a cliff and enjoy the cutlass for what it is. t-tops are like sitting in one spot in the sun during hot days anyhow. you want wind in ur hair...stick your head out the window  nothing personal bro, it just doesnt make any sense!
