When K-rock suddenly went off the air all the DJs were in the booth reminiscing about the years they had spent there. It was pretty sad and I felt NYC deserved a K-rock type station, at least one. It was the last hard rock station we had and now it was gone, turned into a sports-talk show. This was the last song they played before they signed off for good.

I was pushing my mail cart along Northern Boulevard in Jackson Heights Queens sometime around 1977[?]. I had a transistor radio hanging on the cart and I was listening to WNEW-FM the ONLY station worth listening to at the time. I think Scotso had just come on and he played something totally new to me. This- and I then became a life-long fan:
