I understand that big wheels arent for everyone. But if drag racing is your thing, why post comments on custom cars posted in the customs section?

King David has the right idea, how would you feel if a guy running that suspension and wheel combo out ran you in your ride? I would feel pretty shitty if drag racing was my thing and I was beaten by an "ill equiped" street car on huge wheels.

I'd probably say "that's a peppy Monte SS, but I can't stand the wheels" :lol: I grew sick of every other G-Body I saw in the Flint area being jacked up with huge wheels, so that's part of it. Different strokes...
If drag racing was my thing, a car with those wheels, no matter what, wouldn't beat me (not that I am a participant in the sport), jmo 😛

I doubt that car is lifted. Its only on 24s. It probably will outrun a few drag cars with those wheels on. The new trend is putting rims on race cars. That makes the car look slow to close minded people who think big rims make a car slow. There are a few 4 door Caprices in GA and FL outrunning drag cars with 24s, 26s, and even 28s. Racing all about getting off the line, putting all of your power to the ground, and having enough horses.

If you spend enough money on the suspension, then it'll hook with the wheels on.

I never did understand what the big stink is with that. Some people like small wheels (which I dont) Some people like huge wheels (which I dont) I like the right wheels.. which for a Monte is probably 20's. They seem like they fit right. The funny thing is.. Big wheels and all... he'll prolly blow the doors off of most of the rest of us... what does he gain .5 seconds by going down to 16"s?[/quote]


Speak for yourself, there are alot of cars on here including myself that would probably smoke that thing at the track!!!! I don't think that car could out run a drag car. I have seen alot of the g-Body Donks and they all sound good and look fast on the street. But, when it all comes down to it they are a sled on the track. They can't hook and they plow down the track like a jacked up truck. Find me a vid that shows one of these jacked up cars outrunning a drag car and I will believe it. Until then I'll stick to my Monte and the 15"s that I run.:evil:

First of all, the first vid has the donk loosing. The Monte was sleeping at the light and still managed to run him down and beat him.

The second vid with the stang broke at the light and they would have been a good race. But, neither one of them had big tires on them.

The street racing vid was a good one. It looked like they were running either NOS or some kind of power adder to them and the donk won. Fast cars.

But, when You say out run a race car then I am talking dedicated race car. That being said none of these vids had a donk going up aginst a dedicated race car. I am not saying that it hasn't been done but I am sure that it probably happens rarely. I am still not a firm believer.
