I just seen a GP on CL with one running for 3g
Done, and done properly are two very different things. Seller didn't even build it...

The difference is I was trying to kill mine
This is so youI said my son was coming with me. He tries to kill every car he gets behind the wheel of.
Man o man, I wish I could keep my LS swap below $5k, but that isn't going to happen! Starting off with a fresh short block helped, but needing a complete stable cam and valvetrain with heads, FEAD, induction(yeah the Holley is more of a OCD thing for me lol), boost, trans, etc and I will do good to come in around $10k 😕!!!It still costs about $3000-5000 to properly swap in an LS.
That's why I thought that POS gp on CL was a good deal even for a parts carMan o man, I wish I could keep my LS swap below $5k, but that isn't going to happen! If everyone was doing it we would see more swaps. There may be 10 guys actively doing it on faceballs, and 3 gents here at anyone one time. There are still 1000:1 odds there is a still a Gen SBC in the next G-Body hotrod you see.

Ecotecs are RWD in sky/solstice. Even cheap, RWD 5 spd manual transmissions are available at the junkyard (wide ratio, too, perfect for an RPM limited Diesel). A Malibu or Lemans with a 400 lb less motor and no AC and a general lightening would be pretty light. Power steering but manual brakes, manual trans. Rear axle would be a 7.625 with good axles and a limited slip. Removable frame allows us to easily build / reinforce the chassis.
The Race weight of our 2+2 is close to 4,000lbs and we beat the crap out of it. A 3,200 car going 1/2 as fast should be able to take a lot of punishment.
