Pretty cool Electric El Camino, homemade, not a kit.

Interesting. The rear pack being held in by ratchet straps looks a little sketchy, though. 😵 Also, didn't hear any info on the Kw output of the motor. Something tells me this thing is slightly less than a fireball. EVs don't excite me unless they have some b@lls.

I'm thinking a good candidate might be an H-body car (Monza/Starfire/Skyhawk/Vega) small & light, assuming you can still find a good donor car. You might have to get a custom bellhousing adapter, since the Cruze is FWD. Other candidates are the third-gen Toyota Celica, fourth-gen Corolla, AMC Eagle (plenty of ground clearance on that one!), first-gen Nissan Maxima, or Chrysler M-Body (Dodge Diplomat, Chrysler New Yorker, etc.). Maybe even an E30 BMW or Mercedes 190.

Ecotecs are RWD in sky/solstice. Even cheap, RWD 5 spd manual transmissions are available at the junkyard (wide ratio, too, perfect for an RPM limited Diesel). A Malibu or Lemans with a 400 lb less motor and no AC and a general lightening would be pretty light. Power steering but manual brakes, manual trans. Rear axle would be a 7.625 with good axles and a limited slip. Removable frame allows us to easily build / reinforce the chassis.

The Race weight of our 2+2 is close to 4,000lbs and we beat the crap out of it. A 3,200 car going 1/2 as fast should be able to take a lot of punishment.

Actually I have lol I've even welded the shock towers back in to take it out and jump it again

We weren't planning on taking a welder with us and a 220 outlet is probably hard to find in the Yukon (or ultimately in Chile, if the Alaska leg works out)
