I don't see any real benefit other than aesthetic. I've never had a problem remembering firing order or issues swapping caps or distributors.
it's the crossing of wires that I don't like and it does make it alot cleaner

That's what I meant. I've never had an issue crossing wires with traditional caps. Yes aesthetically it's cleaner and something different.it's the crossing of wires that I don't like and it does make it alot cleaner
I guess it's matter of whether or not the dielectric in the cap can withstand coil voltages that the plug wire coating can.I have always thought those style caps would actually hurt performance by extending the contacts in the cap making for a greater chance at spark jumping especially at higher RPM.
I'm not sure if we're just misunderstanding each other, or if you have the newer style distributor in yours, but the horizontal lead towers, like in this pic, are for the fuel injected 5.0 and 5.7 vortec motors from 1996-2000ish and found in the gm trucks. these have the external square coil that mounts to the intake, and different mounting points.. if you're running the standard vertical tower HEI cap with the internal coil, this cap won't fit.I have read a few forums about it, I think I'll pick one up to try it out before I put the car away for the winter....I have read reviews of the cap and no one says anything about having to change the wires but I see what you mean...
if you read this add at the bottom it says "Correct-a-cap type firing order"
https://www.msdperformance.com/products/distributors/distributor_accessories/parts/8017
and now I cam across a tune up kit which shows the wire ends and they are different than the hei ends...

sorry again if we;re just not getting each other

I was referring to a misfire in the cap because of bringing certain terminals inside the cap closer to each other to achieve this wire routing which eliminates the typically large spacing between terminals.I guess it's matter of whether or not the dielectric in the cap can withstand coil voltages that the plug wire coating can.
A lot of 1 star reviews for Accel's version and I am not surprised as to why.
