MSD IGNITION ISSUE

a Rochester never came with a manual choke as far as I know....it either used a heat riser or an electric coil

What I meant was someone may have added a manual choke, and the cable would be obvious. He thought it maybe was manual. Here's a pic of your motor- no choke that I can see, though the fuel filter is in the way. I think it would be an ideal time to add one.

I looked in his photo's and found this one but you can't see the choke area of the carb but I don't see any black cable either....what I do see is the EFE valve is not hooked up and that flap could be restricting the exhaust..and the fuel filter is one of those mr gasket (aka fire starter) glass filter that he might want to consider replacing asap

I'm done with MSD products all together. All I can say is junk anything MSD. I had a 6A box in my 76 Monte Carlo for about 6 months until it started popping coils like crazy, same issue with my dad's that he let me borrow. I ripped that piece of crap out of my car, then I switched to an MSD Street Fire distributor and 6 months later another coil popped and 6 months after that another, then the module went. I went out and bought an OEM cap, rotor, coil and module and its been almost 2 years without a problem. Piss on MSD Ignition.

Wait, his other topic says there IS a cable! If so, get someone to operate it and watch if the butterfly opens and closes. This could be as simple as a loose clamp.

I saw that too but I think he may be talking about the throttle cable or the cable to the transmission

I enlarged those pictures and saw no cable

Hey I have one of those! No bueno? Should I just go back to the original before I catch on fire?

yes you should....I had one that came apart...no fire but I did some checking and they have cause a few fires so I always recommend to replacing them..the glass can even explode if the fuel is blocked at the carb and the pressure in the line build up just from a stock pump
