MSD IGNITION ISSUE

Those glass filters are really made for outboard motor fuel tanks that work on suction, not positive pressure. It is SO easy to break one but then the outboard just quits. On a car, gas douses a hot motor and distributor and, well, you can imagine the rest.

Need to see what's under the air cleaner assembly. Maybe whoever he bought it from took the choke right off, including the flapper. You never know. And put some headers on that thing. .......mickey-d

Lol...yeah that was the throttle cable...i look and there is no screw to adjust the choke...it has the lever but how do i adjust it..

So I went outside in the rain to check it all out...i turn the ignition and cranked it and YES the choke opens, but still dosent turn on the first turn, then i pumped it twice with gas and tried it again, it kinda wanted to start but it didnt...at the same time the choke is opening and closing ...i could see from the front of the windshield...checked the jets as well, and yes it letting out a good amount of gas....so trying again, pumped twice on gas and turned the ignition and it turned on the choked stayed open then car turned off then choke closed.....so i tried again and the elko turns over and the choke opens and stays open, idle is all good and sounds and feels good, give it gas and sounds strong...

so is my choke working fine? if not how do i adjust it....i dont see any screw where i need to adjust it like i read in an article...

i just want my elko to crank on the first time ..nice and smooth, dont get me wrong i know its an old car and they do get cold, but I see alot of older cars cranks on the first turn...

We needa good picture of the choke side of the carb. It should not be opening as you crank it. It should close shut on the first tap of the gas pedal and stay shut until the motor starts, then open fully as it warms up. So yank that big air cleaner off and shoot a nice close-up picture of the carb.

I really think its the cold weather, Im sorry when the car is running the choke is open and when i turn car off it closes slowly....

I turned on the car yesterday for a good 45 mins, waited about 10mins and gave it one pump of gas and it started right away...i think since i havent ran it for a good while, it maybe needs to get use to being turned off and on...

Once i get it registered in January and really have some run time on it, it might get better....

Thanks for the info family!!

I thought you were driving the car...it may need to be driven to get the cobwebs out of it but the choke setting is something that doesn`t change so you might want to look into that when you have a chance....and that picture bonne asked about would help

FOR SURE WILL DO....TAKING PIC TODAY

Whatever happened to this one? Is there a choke or not?
