MSD 😛 "Well theres your problem..."

in the race car we have two boxes set up and two coils, I have an extra box and coil and distributor in a box just in case, plus my main one is the E curve which can run with or without a box so if the box ever dies I just switch plugs...they are great when they work but not too dependable. I think the analog ones are better than the new digital boxes

Nice paper weight.
The car usually runs good when it works. But dependability is another issue.
I still have a module bypass harness in my toolbox for a 6A. I still think you're better off with a good HEI distributor like a Davis Unified or something in that order, and ditch the MSD box.

I had a similar issue. Is your coil compatible with MSD? that could be the issue as well. I ended up buying a cap that allows me to run an external coil off of my HEI distributor, I think it was like $20 or something, MSD sells it and then I hooked up a coil Blaster coil. It was super easy to do.

you're better off to run a remote coil. The coil in the HEI cap can cause the cap to move under hard breaking and cornering and cause a misfire. The MSD E curve distributor I have is made in the USA and it's been very dependable

hey, there i need some help as well i have an 82 supreme with 454 and i have a 6al msd box with the built in rev limiter and 2 little dials for adjusting the rpm and both with the 350 and now the 454 i set the rpm and nothing changes it still revs however high you hit the throttle im using an HEI distributor also sometimes when the car turns off i get run on for a few seconds thanks for any help

I am going to install the diode to stop the engine run on. Now does any body have any idea why when i set the rev limiter on my 6al msd box my rev limiter does not work. the light on the box is on when the engine is running and i no it's working but the rev limiter part doesnt work or do a thing. thanks steve
