My 1985 Oldsmobile 442 . . .

Thanks for all the feedback!

Funny story about the car . . . a few years ago when I was installing the Megashifter and removing the factory console for the first time I found an unopened condom with a 1985 expiration date hidden under there. It must of been placed there at the factory by one of the workers--there's no way it could have fallen into where it was. I always heard of assembly workers placing random objects in cars during install (or writing messages on hidden panels, sound deadener) ... anyone else ever find something like that?

Anyway, I'll post more pics as work progresses.

Thats awesome...

I have found drug paraphernalia before.

I found a pipe from the previous owner when I took the console apart in my '79 Cutlass. Somebody had emptied the ash tray a few times by simply dumping it inside the opening into the console. I had to take it apart to clean it all out, and in the process I found the pipe. I gave it back to him the next time I saw him and he was pretty excited.

I used to write stuff on the backs of pieces of trim I had restored before I put them on. Half the 40 or so pieces on a '50 Mercury we did had some form of 'Jeff sucks' or 'Jeff likes boners' etc. (Jeff was one of my co-workers) written on the back...

beautiful car! too bad its a chevy powered.. 🙁

Thanks! I debated for a while about whether to keep it all olds or not, tough choice but in the end the Chevy was just far less money as I already had most of the parts . . . I did keep the original code 9 307. Who knows, maybe one day something like this is in order:

That is a great link. :!: Talk about a budget olds motor. Good find & very nice car.

Dale has despelled alot of 307 myths, very thick block and those heads are NOT beyond hope. A lot of hours in the heads.

was wondering about your dash, shifter and door bezel stuff......is that aftermarket aluminium stuff? never seen that style EVER. only seen the black smoke bezels in later 442 years. where did ya get them?

I love the Olds 307 Build -- that's awesome!!!

As far a finding unusual objects -- I once found an empty beer can under an Olds valley pan gasket!

Nope, that is stock. I have seen a few 85's before and they all come with that. It is very difficult to find that stuff in that condition.

Those aluminum pieces are aftermarket. They have the black lines and Olds logo and "lighter" on radio bezel etched into them which makes it look like it could have come from the factory. The fit and quality is excellent.

I'll look for a link--I bought them about 7-8 years ago. I think it was a Grand National website of all things. If I remember right, they didn't have pieces for the 87 door panels, just 86 and earlier.
