A set of small chamber edelbrock heads and performer rpm will wake that engine up.
Is there any truth that if the block has a HP stamped in block above the oil filter it could be a 4 bolt main block? Or do you pretty much have to pull the pan and inspect? I guess I could drain oil and stick the bore scope up in the drain hole.Stick that camera in the spark plug hole and I bet you find a flat top piston. So a head like the 100-110 cc Edelbrock will be a big help for compression. The heads like has been said are nothing special. They are for a truck. The block, at least the majority of the 445's I have done were 4 bolt blocks so you may have lucked out there. Not that a 2 bolt is of any concern in this application.
I’m not concerned about those heads, I planned on a set of aluminum heads from the start.😉 it looking like I could have a four bolt main block, now that’s awesome!😆79ish peanut ports heads......sell them to MrSony..................😆
Well this one is stamped “HP” also the number (27) close by.I believe all 454 Mark IV's blocks were stamped Hi Perf
The stampings are hit or miss. Some 4 bolt blocks had a large oil port by the filter for a cooler. Otherwise no tell tale sign I am aware of.Well this one is stamped “HP” also the number (27) close by.
Would that large port have a big plug screwed into to block flush? If so this block has it, I seen it and was wondering what it was for?The stampings are hit or miss. Some 4 bolt blocks had a large oil port by the filter for a cooler. Otherwise no tell tale sign I am aware of.
I think the 2 bolt has 1 3/8npt fitting, 4 bolt has 2Would that large port have a big plug screwed into to block flush? If so this block has it, I seen it and was wondering what it was for?
This was a real big plug in the block, not like a frost plug. I thought it kind odd that it was there.I think the 2 bolt has 1 3/8npt fitting, 4 bolt has 2
