Damn right they did! They lived the ultimate dream!
I remember the night Dime bag and their body guard were killed. I was working the night shift on a Friday night listening to the metal shop on 93X here in the Twin Cities when they cut out of a song to report Dime Bag had been killed in ohio on stage. My coworker and I just looked at each other in shock. I believe it was December 7th or 8th if I remember correctly, 2004? What a shame!

Yessir, December 8th, 2004. A few fans were also killed trying to pull him off stage and perform CPR. Only good thing that happened that night was the gunman getting his head turned inside out by a cop with a 12 gauge,

I was talking about the Bondo in my car, thought that post was directed at me seeing as you quoted me.
Yeah if my car was a Minnesota car it would be full of rust or most likely crushed a long time ago, sent through our shredder at work. Then dumped into a charge bucket for our EAF furnace in the melt shop and turned into a couple steel billets. It’s from Idaho and never seen a Minnesota winter or salted roads. Now that I own it, that car will sit I’m my garage all winter and get a ton of work before spring.

Little update on the car, I finally got my new headliner from stock interiors. Ordered April 14th and received May 27th. Waiting for my oldest son who is a auto mechanic to come help me install it. Four hands are better than two! I did get the window tinting and inside panels done, so now it needs the headliner.

Another update from the weekend. Have the new headliner from stock interiors pretty much installed. Except for the dome/ map light. Also windshield pillar molding and upper trim above windshield.
Stock interiors could have made the headliner about a half inch longer front to back. I also don’t care for the color I picked. Oh well i’ll Just have to live with it.

I also replaced all the bulbs with LED’s.

Was also missing a little round oval lens in the dome/map light. Found a $20flashlight that had a lens almost identical to the other one. I’m also missing the plastic light cover and got a piece of Lexan polycarbonate that I will make another one out of..
You can’t even tell which lens is the original and which is memorex?

The good thing about having a real low compression engine to start out is that a simple head swap will change everything. I never really understood the effects on more compression until I helped a buddy swap out heads on his 383(Mopar) to lower CC aluminum heads. Was a night and day difference, even the sound.
I’m real hesitant to buy anything like heads, cam or intake. Till I’m sure what I need to buy to achieve desired affect.
I want to keep the car drivable for the summer and start on motor this winter. I sure would like to have a direction when it comes to headers. I have a complete 2-1/2 inch mandrel bent dual exhaust kit I would like to put on the car now. But I need to figure out headers first. Any suggestions?

I have used 2 different headers both from Hooker. The cheapest was the 2455 full length designed for 68-72 A-body cars like the Chevelle. Took some massaging to fit but for $100 or so I was happy. I believe I had to grind out some of the lower control arm mount and move the brake proporting valve back on the frame a few inches. The latter probably isnt NEEDED but I don't like the idea of hot brake fluid.

My current headers are the Hooker slip tube 2241 headers made specifically for BBC swaps in G-bodies. These are much more expensive but they are "tuned" and fit better. The only reason I made the switch was because I found them dirt cheap out of the blue locally. Only downside besides the price is dealing with the slip tubes leaking. Will need high temp silicone while assembling them.

Both headers, if not ALL headers will need some relief ground out on the bottom of the mounting flange when using bigger head bolts like ARP. Both headers mentioned are full length, 2" primary into 3.5" collectors.

Find a header in the 1 3/4" to 1 7/8" range and it will be more than enough to feed up to a 600 hp big block.
