Old chevy parts. Wish I would have saved the alternator. Would have saved me bundles like geico. Guess thats why I dont see any money laying around staring me in the face.

Picture058.jpg

Those spare 455 heads look mighty good. Dont know if they had been rebuilt also though

Picture057.jpg

Low carbon diet on these heads

Picture056.jpg

Picture055.jpg

The damage looks really bad but there is only a very small nick on the crank.

Thanks and yes it does. Now if I could only find the right frame mounts for a reasonable price I will be a ok. Im probably going to modify the chevy ones to work. Just been kinda lazy. Don't really need a working vehicle right now since we are on break from school but this will be done before it gets cold.

Re: My 78 Regal Build Thread. Loads Of Pics

Got a few other pictures that I forgot to snap with the motor in car and few other pieces I had painted. They will be added shortly.

Painted the reservoirs the same color but I used a gloss clear. Used this to bring engine out a little and to match with the interior.

Re: My 78 Regal Build Thread. Loads Of Pics

Ok update time. I used the buick v6 mounts I had. I turned the sideways onto the motor mount and lowered engine and then checked the leveler. It was right on. I then outlined the mounts around the frame and around the motor mount and took them to school to get welded. I got around to putting them on today but they are welded real good and re enforced. I also put my exhaust manifolds on with the help of a good friend. Ran into some issues on the passenger side because of the bulk head but everything turned out good.

I also slapped my valve covers, intake, and carb on just to see what it would look like. The motor didnt look like much at first but with that stuff on its really looks beastly. Next up is getting some more parts and more paint. Also debating do I want to wait since I have access to the lifters to swap in a high performance camshaft. I just cant have a hotrod without any rump rump thump thump sound.

I will probably have pictures up tomorrow so stay tuned.

Re: My 78 Regal Build Thread. Loads Of Pics

Haven't updated in a min because somebody broke into my house and stole my computer along with some other stuff but anyways I still havent gotten it up and running. I basically got everything done but I have the wrong water pump pulley. I just won one off ebay yesterday so I hope to have the motor up and running within two weeks.

Enjoy the pictures and videos. Videos are really nothing special. Just random videos I decided to take at the time.

Test fitting parts

PICT0013.jpg

Motor mounts welded to frame mounts. Only thing left was getting it welded to frame

Intake sealed on, carb mounted and fuel line with pressure gauge hooked up

PICT0463.jpg

PICT0464.jpg

PICT0472.jpg

Pre oiling motor with everything almost on. I should have painted alternator bracket black to offset the aluminum color of the alternator. Notice my nice BIG magnet on the oil filter to catch any metal debri

PICT0473.jpg

Mounts welded with flux cored(reason it doesnt look so pretty like MIG). Ran pressure gauge to also work with the idiot light in dash.

PICT0458.jpg

Fresh aluminum paint 🙂

PICT0457.jpg

I got the drop base air cleaner to work with the fuel line and for hood clearance but guess what...still doesnt clear the hood. That means cut some bracing out or an excuse to get a cowl scoop. Shift kit wont be installed until I change the fluid again in the transmission. I will probably do it when I do the first oil change.

PICT0455.jpg

This is just showing some of my paint skills

PICT0445.jpg

I outlined Edelbrock Performer 455 in red to bring it out a tad and match motor

PICT0444.jpg

PICT0443.jpg

PICT0442.jpg

Valve covers I redid to match also. I will probably redo them because I really dont like how they turned out. Looks good but could be better and since thats what most people look at when looking at a motor(imo)

Mmmm.....Fresh paint

Re: My 78 Regal Build Thread. Loads Of Pics
