Re: My 78 Regal Build Thread. Loads Of Pics

I would also maybe look into a y-block for those fittings instead of that long adapter... I'd be afraid of breaking it all the time.

looks great

but if I was you I would get rid of the plastic oil pressure line and go get some copper tubing

Is there a benefit to using the copper tubing besides durability? I think I may have to use that because its leaking oil already from both ends around where you tighten it up at. I may not have tightened it up enough though. I will see but havent gotten around to it yet because it wasnt leaking bad. It will be fixed permanetly though.

Can I get the y block anywhere locally?(parts store) I just set it up how the instructions had it. I had to get that adapter from a hardware store because parts stores didnt have any adapters. Only thing they had was the nippple fitting.

I don't know for sure, not really up on plumbing parts. It may wind up being a t-fitting as opposed to a y also.

Re: My 78 Regal Build Thread. Loads Of Pics

Well I havent gotten it up and running yet. Been preoccupied so just been doing little things here and there. I redid the valve covers with a flake type, glitter sparkle clear coat I got from autozone and got mostly everything on. I think I need to add a little red to the valve covers. I think I will buy some 430 emblems and paint the red to go on them. Been tidying up the engine and tying things down to get it a little neat. Had to get a new alternator plug that I luckly found at NAPA. If not I would have to take that alternator off and put a newer year model instead of a 67. I snapped this picture with my phone and will get some more pics later on with my camera.

Re: My 78 Regal Build Thread. Loads Of Pics

Well fellas I still haven't gotten it running yet. When I get ready to do it something comes up. One incident was my thermostat housing was leaking when I was putting coolant in. I have replaced that though. I hope to get it running Monday. I would have done it today but I left my keys in my mom's house and she wasnt there so I couldn't get the rest of stuff I need for the car.

The car is coming along though. I have added a few more custom security devices, and currently getting my seats done in black tweed with tan piping. I didnt think I would like the tweed that much but it looks pretty good in person. I originally wanted vinyl but I have no a/c and there is no telling when I will get it so I didnt take that chance. Here are a few pics of the interior with my camera phone. I will take better pics with a regular camera. O yea I also sprayed my grill black and cleared it. Came out pretty nice. More pics soon.

I'm amped up about the car because it will be mostly complete all at once. The car will be running, interior mostly done, and then back to school it goes so I can finish up the bodywork and paint it. I'm pushing for mid Feb but we all know how that goes when you set a date for a car. Suspension is basically done. I just have to upgrade my springs since I have a big block, install control arm bushings, and buy some body mount bushings.

Looks good, I hope the oil pump pressurizes properly. I had a 455 and could not get the pump to hold prime, even bought a new cover and pump gears. I even pack it full of vaseline to get it to prime.. This should be a monster when your done.

Re: My 78 Regal Build Thread. Loads Of Pics-And Finally Alive!!!

Well my bbb is finally alive. I tried to crank it up a few days ago but I couldnt get any spark to the wires. I had spark going ot the distributor but nothing. After testing the ignition coil and ignition module several times I came to the conclusion it was the pickup coil. I finally found a test to diagnose that and found out it was bad.

I had another distributor from my spare 455 so I dropped to good parts in that one and dropped distributor in the car. Made sure it was tdc and it fired right up with the help of some starting fluid. I only ran it for a little while so I havent broken in the cam yet. but it is FINALLY ALIVE. I have a video but my camera cord is shorted or something so I will try my best to get a video up.
