A good color that is sort of a darker aluminum may be argent. GM used it on rims and other pieces parts.
I know your done with your paint project, but thought I'd throw it out.

Im assuming you mean for the transmission ? If thats what you mean, I did that. Didnt like it at all. I wanted something that looked closer to cast aluminum. I guess I could have looked through the silver chart and sprayed it with base and cleared it with a matte clear but it was just too much work and $$ for a transmission.

This mornings project. Ripped all the rear suspension out. Shocks are trashed. Pinion seal is leaking. Emergency brake cable was cut and the end stuffed into a hole in the frame. Looks like I'll be a little busy. My neighbors going to sandblast the housing, sway bar and springs for me this week. I might ask him if I can do the drums real quick in his cabinet. He's 4 houses down and he usually give me a good price so it works out well. A little DP, a coat of SEM Hot Rod black and its going to look fresh.
I also have to order a ton of crap. Looks like UMI tubular arms but Im not sure if I want the adjustable reinforcement bars. I wish they werent adjustable. I have Hotchkis on my 81 but theyre so expensive. Anyone use BMR ?

A little update on the rear. I had it sandblasted last week. The guy that built the 406 in my 81 took it a couple of days later to take it apart and check everything out for me. Two new backing plates, axle bearings and seals and a pinion seal. Today I spent most of the day cleaning and prepping it for primer. I already sprayed the backing plates with the Hot Rod black thinking it would be easier than trying to do it when it was all together. Turns out taping them off would be a pain in the butt so theyre getting another coat of color. LOL
I was able to prime everything around 5:00. If I started earlier I would have had it finished today but I got a late start. Ive been spraying things outside since both cars are in the garage. Its not bad on a sunny calm day like today. I'll probably set up the redneck spray booth in front of my garage on Saturday so I can hang the rear high up with the engine hoist to make it easier to spray. Once thats finished and back in I can finally get the motor back in. Cant wait !

Got the rear painted on Saturday. Left it on the little cart to do the first coat on most of it and hung it from the hoist to finish. Not too bad. I usually miss some spots underneath but it looks like I had pretty good coverage this time. LOL
Today I went to my neighbors and used his cabinet to sandblast the drums. Got them in paint right after I got home. Maybe tomorrow I'll get to work on getting the brakes back together. I still have to spray the wheel cylinders though. Maybe first thing in the morning. I hope I can figure out how that crap goes back together !

That looks amazing for a DIY job!(y)

Thank you. Ive gotten pretty good with a spray gun when it comes to spraying parts and interior pieces. Too bad I cant paint anything larger ! I guess its better that way ! I think that paint has something to do with it too. That stuff flows out really well, looks glossy when its wet and dries overnight to that semi gloss. Good stuff !
