Got some more stuff done on the wagon. Wiring is 95% finished. All thats left is figuring out where the wires for the distributor and tach need to come out of the split loom and the same with the high idle solenoid and temp sender wire. I was able to use a smaller diameter loom instead of the 3/4 which in my opinion made it look a little cleaner. Every time I go to a junkyard I look for the PED loom fittings. If theyre clean I grab them. I used a few Ts and ends. Clean them up with Simple Green, spray them with SEM Landau black and they look like new.
I ran it high on the firewall because I wanted it to look kinda flat. When I put it lower it seemed to have gaps where the firewall curved in and out. I also ran it that way because it hides a few small holes that were there. I like the smaller loom so much I might try to use it on the 81.

I also remade the OEM splice. Used a 1" uninsulated butt connector. Cut it in half. Drilled a 1/16" hole in the middle. Stuck three wires in from one side and a single from the other. Crimped the connector in two places and then filled it with solder through the small hole. After it cooled off I put a piece of 3/8 adhesive shrink tubing over it. Done. LOL

Today I stuck the two new transmission cooler lines up where they need to go. Still dont have a radiator or condensor yet so now things are on hold for a bit. Maybe if the weather is nice this week I'll spray the shift linkage and the one inner fender that I never got to do.

Been a little slow working on the wagon. Yesterday the humidity FINALLY dropped down enough that I could paint the shroud in Duplicolor low gloss GM black. I tried to paint a piece of plastic with the aerosol weeks ago but the humidity has been staying above 75-80% and the test area blushed real bad. Of course there had to be a problem. LOL
I had the shroud hanging on a rolling stand and I guess some of the vinyl dressing I sprayed on something in my garage misted over and got on one side. Had to be at least 12' away. As soon as the paint touched the shroud it fish eyed all over the place. So a quick clean job and I was good to go. Its on, the radiators in and I just have to get the earlier upper hose. The one I bought originally has the two different sizes.

I hope to get the transmission cooler lines in tomorrow along with the new custom positive battery cable from CE Auto Electric.

Sorry for the crappy picture but you get the idea.

Spent some time in the garage today. Cool temps, music was on, knees didnt hurt so bad..lol
Got the other header in after finally finding the bolt to hold the dipstick to the block. I hate misplacing crap. transmission cooler lines are almost finished. They just need a bit of tweaking. Got the new upper hose today but of course the nice T clamps didnt fit. When I bought them for the 81 I got doubles thinking it would be the same on both cars. More extra crap.
Not a ton left to do under the hood but being so anal I know the little things are going to take the longest. I have to figure out what Im doing with the plug wires. The loom kit that came with the crate motor was really for aluminum heads. Theres extra brackets included but I have to cut them under the bolt holes due to the fact theyre too long and wont slip under the header flange. Ive got some similar brackets from the junk yard so I'll mess with them first before hacking up the new ones. Got a few wires to hook up. Put the fuel pump in and cut the AN line for the filter. Its getting there.
