Almost done with the head swap, finally got her running on the Q-Jet. Now its time to swap to the Holley. Still need to tidy things up under the hood in terms of wiring. I also have wire looms coming from R&M Specialties. Here's some pics...

Re: My 86 442: update 1-3-2012

thats some awesome work on the 442. you doing the damn thing. how much did the suspension upgrade (upper/lower front and rear control arms) hit you for? i'm doing that after i finish this motor/transmission/rear gear upgrade..

Re: My 86 442: update 1-3-2012

What's wrong with the Q-jet. I like the valve covers they look sharp. What type of headers are you running? Are they tough on the starter?

Re: My 86 442: update 1-3-2012

Thanks guys!

The suspension cost me around the 2 grand mark. But I did upper and lower in the front and rear, along with front and rear sway bars, and springs all the way around. I went with spohn pieces, everything fit absolutly perfect.

About the Q-Jet, there actually isnt anything wrong with it besides the fact its from a 1980 truck. I did a quickie rebuild on it and the car runs good on it. I just decided to try something different. Headers I'm running headman, they fit pretty well didn't have to modify anything to make them fit. As for the starter I haven't had any real problems. When these motor is hot it cranks slow sometimes. But that could be due to high compression or my timing (i still need to check it out). Thanks for the comment on the covers. I actually got the idea from fe3x clone, and theyre far from perfect. Just thought it was better than bare cast aluminum since the covers are very old and weren't in the best shape.

Heres some more pics:
