Re: My 86 442: update 7-12-2012

Thanks guys!

My trans to radiator lines are stainless. I got them pre bent from classic tube not far from me.

As far as doing the work, you just take your time and do your best. My car isnt perfect and thats ok with me at the end of the day I built it.

The dash was not crazy hard to remove. Lots of screws and clips though. My advice is to keep organized with baggies, and take pictues as you take it apart if you think youll forget where things go. Another thing that helps is having a dealer service manual. It breaks down the steps needed for removal and installation.

Re: My 86 442: update 7-12-2012

Hey guys I have a kind of technical question. Will is linkage that goes from the steering column to the transmission defferent depending on what trans your car originally had? My car had a 200-4R but now it has a rev/man th350 and I was looking to install the linkage back into my car along with the factory shifter and rev/man gate plate that GBodyParts sells. Any help on what specific parts I need that are different from 200-4R to th350 would be great!

Thanks!

Looking really nice! I need to order some SEM paint for my interior too. Have a good dash...but the wrong color. How hard was swapping the dashboard? Have not done on yet.

Keep the pics coming please!

Thanks! Pulling and reinstalling the dash wasnt that hard. You just need to take your time and go slow. Taking pictures as you go, makes installation much easier to see how everything was routed. I used the paint gbodyparts carries. It was phenomenal to use with correct prep work.

Thanks Blake! The shift lever on the side of the trans and bracket that holds the cable will work too?

The bracket that holds the cable is different, but the linkage from the column to the gear selector will work with a slight adjustment.

Hey all, I decided to change to Pypes Street Pro mufflers on the 442. The Summit mufflers just didn't have the sound I waas looking for. Anyways I took a video (Sorry its dark but I just needed sound anyways) let me know what you all think!
Its just at idle because it was too late to be revving the car without someone calling the cops.

Re: My 86 442: update 11-3-2012

So I finally had my front seat upholstery installed. I took the maroon seats from my parts car apart and stripped all the fabric off so the new stuff could be installed. While everything was apart, I cleaned up the chrome pieces, and painted the plastics grey to contrast the black. I used interior paint from gbodyparts to do the job. As always the stuff worked awesome. I spent today reassembling the seats so they can be installed along with my new but used grey carpet tomorrow.

Here's some pics:
