Why are you deleting the AC?

Why not? It never worked from the day I got the car, nor did the heat or any controls. Someone hacked the wiring and half of the components off the car. The real non a/c box looks better than a delete plate or that conversion they sell imo.

I agree and you get to keep your defrost.

Man I just went through your entire thread- You must have a fortune in this by now! What do the fiber optics do?

Re: My 86 442: update 4/30/2013

Littlerascal59 that was also a major thing with me. I need defrost on some of the cooler summer mornings here or if I get caught in the rain. Plus I like stuff thats actuated mechanically by cable. Vacuum lines are too unreliable especially after almost 30 years. There are no vacuum lines on a non a/c setup, its all cable.

Gt_80, not as much as you think lol. The fiber optics allow the driver to see what lights are on and working. The fronts allow me to see the high/low beams and marker lights without getting out of the drivers seat.

Re: My 86 442: update 5/11/2013

Finished hooking up and running wiring for my heater setup. It works! Its nice to have heat, vent, and defrost without the bulk of the A/C equipment. Its definitely worth it if you can find all the parts you need, and it's easier than buying that conversion cover some places offer. No cutting/modifying and trying to make things work, just bolt the parts in run the cables for your controls, and done. The hardest part is getting the dash out of the way to do the work.

I was told by a company that this swap would be hard and not worth it, definitely not the case. And its OEM. Here's some pics from earlier.

Turned out nice!
I'm a big pusher for the factory non-a/c set up... Did it on both my cars.
That conversion cover piece they sell is a complete joke.

Thanks! I totally agree with you about that conversion piece.
