You aren't wrong, but a car that is running and driving is a lot more motivating than one that is sitting in the garage collecting dust without a motor. I've been working on this car for going on 6 years so my patience is dwindling into disinterest. Engines are a dime a dozen so I can always build another and swap it in.

totally true joe, have had more and more thoughs about selling all the g-bodies due to not doing anything on them for so long.... buick has been more than a year since I did anything to it, olds has been on jackstands for a year now at my buddy's farm, and although I just got the grand prix back on the road and am enjoying driving it, I just isn't the same as it was before....

get it running and enjoy the hard work you've put in it!

And you're not wrong either. But on the other hand it's not like it's your only car. For about a year and a half I didn't have a car and had to walk everywhere. Thank lord my job was only a few blocks away. Like I said, you have all the time in the world. It pays to be patient, if at least a few more months.

And engines may be a dime a dozen where you live, but when are you gonna find another good rebuildable buick core, or the extra cash for a new transmission/adapter, motor mounts, wiring, etc to put anything else in there?

Joe, kind of an old thread, but would you still have the throttle/kickdown bracket? I'd pay for it if you aren't using it. It's the big brown bracket next to the carb.

Yeah, I've got it but I'm gonna be using it soon, sorry, I've actually been making some pretty good progress on the engine build. I've been meaning to update on it, but I've been pretty busy. This engine is my top priority right now, amongst all my other 3,000 projects, lol. I'll have an update with pictures soon. Sorry I couldnt be of more help with the bracket.

It's alright. Are you still gonna use 200r4 transmission, or go with a Th350? All brackets I've seen, aftermarket and OEM for O/D transmissions the throttle and kickdown/tv cable holes need to be flush with eachother, not offset like that one is. It may work though. Just remember a kickdown cable only needs to work at 3/4- WOT and a TV cable needs to work in sync with the throttle cable, hence throttle valve.
Just keep picking away at it, you'll finish it soon enough. I just got mine done this past May, then the transmission exploded in September. Yay, another project.

Im gonna go with a TH350 or TH400. There's a guy around here who sells rebuilt ones cheap <$400. A transmission replacement only should take a day or two tops. These transmissions swap in and out fairly easily.
All you need is a set of jack stands and a big 3/8ths drive extension for the bell housing bolts. I regularly swap them in and out at the racetrack for my buddy in his '81 Malibu. It took me an hour and a half the first time because I didn't know what I was doing, but anymore I can have them in and out in under an hour with an extra set of hands. He runs TH200s because they are light and cheap. He also blows them up regularly 😀.

Kudos to him. I couldn't blow my 200 up if I tried. Granted I had the V6 still attached to it. Favorite thing was going in reverse about 15mph and ramming it into first. That 195 tire didn't stand a chance. If you go with a Th400, they don't use a kickdown cable/bracket, just a solenoid somewhere. Throttle cable only buick 350 brackets are plentiful. I assume those ones were for cars with either a TH400, or when the TH350 still used a rod to kick down instead of a cable. And I have to say, the correct bracket like yours is the only one I've ever seen like it. I think it was way more common to have a Th400 behind a 350 than a th350. Good luck either way.

I think his car makes around ~400 horse. The TH200s usually take four or so hard launches before they spill their guts out, lol. That bracket looks simple enough that you could probably make one with a piece of mild steel and a torch.

Yeah, that's most likely what I'm gonna have to do. Oh well. It's the biggest part of hotrodding. Can't find it or buy it? Build it.
