Car's been back off the road after 6 months of daily torture. Figured since I have a garage now, there's no better time to pull it apart and do everything I want to do. Car is completely stripped down, with the exception of the glass. This should take me well into next year to finish. End result should be around my goal of 600whp. So far, I've done most of the patch work and some of the wiring. I'm building my own wiring harness for the body and reusing my ecu harness as a whole.

not sure why the ebay link won't work but here is the Merkur I saw on there. I only had some interest b/c of a fast one I recently saw driving nearby.

llhe 2.3T is more fun than i could have ever imagined. in 100% stock form, it's ok, but for for cost of a gillis valve and cone filter, you'll be crushing 5.0 fox body mustangs like they're the 1's packing 4 cylinders. and that's in a heavy turbo coupe lol. THE XR4Ti has a small following, but most of them are pushing some serious power. they weigh about the same as a mustang, they're just hard to find parts for. neat little funky looking cars. i'm surprised they don't have a larger following, because they're so unique.

this is a list of things i've done, since the car's been torn down..

- welded in 95% of my filler patches
- knocked out the huge mess that was my driver side quarter panel and spread a MUCH thinner layer of filler over it
- fixed the mess of a passenger side replacement.. the previous owner who created this mess, shouldn't even be allowed to own a car, much less work on them.. it was a disgrace to all the body men in the world
- finished building my tubular lower control arms
- made brackets for my rear 4 piston wilwood calipers
- wired my tail lights, head lights, turn signals, brake lights, hazards and ecu.
- started cutting out all the non-structural metal
- made a mount to put my battery box in my spare tire well, behind the LR quarter
- got most of the sound deadening up off the floor
- lightened my passenger door by cutting out some of the inner structuring and a bar that ran along the backside of the door skin. left just enough to bolt in a manual window regulator and the interior door handle
- got the motor torn down and cleaned. wrapped the block and crank in plastic.
- bought a head off car-part.com, sent it off to the machine shop to get welded, have flanges made and hot tanked. waiting to pick it up (keep spending the money on other things.. oops)
- bought rings, bearings, gaskets, seals, oil pump, water pump, esslinger engineering adjustable cam gears, fuel rail blank, inline aeromotive regulator, AN lines/fittings for the fuel supply and return, AN brake lines for my turbo feed line (running the oil through an external trans cooler, then to the turbo, to try keeping charge temps down a little) and the material i need for my front clip and subframe connectors. i need to pick up some more tubing, so i can build my cage before i do the front end. front clip's top rail is going to pass through the firewall and tie into the cage

there's a lot of things left to get and a lot more left to do, still don't know if i want to stroke it or leave it stock bore/stroke. i like strokers, but i don't trust stock 2.5 rods or cranks to hold up to 30+lbs and aftermarket stroker parts are retardedly priced and not forged.

Stole a little gbody engineering on this 1 lol

looks like a nice toy to play with. That 2.3 looks strikingly like the 2.3 VP motor in my boat. I wonder how I can work a turbo into my exhaust LOL

It'd be more of a toy at this point, if there wasn't so much rust and pisspoor bodywork everywhere lol. A volvo penta motor? Is it dohc? Wanna trade cams? LOL

Any more progress with this? I'm surprised I haven't seen this before.
